Retail Spaces
Project Overview
A comprehensive security evaluation of a busy shopping center serving approximately 5,000 visitors daily. The facility includes 80 retail units, a food court, cinema complex, and underground parking for 400 vehicles. The assessment aimed to reduce theft incidents and improve overall visitor safety.
Assessment Scope
- Customer flow analysis and crowd management protocols
- Retail theft prevention measures and alarm system effectiveness
- Parking structure security including lighting and surveillance
- Staff safety procedures and panic button placement
- Cash handling and money transport security
- Emergency evacuation procedures for high-traffic periods
Key Findings
The assessment revealed insufficient surveillance in fitting rooms and storage areas, creating opportunities for theft. Parking levels 2 and 3 had inadequate lighting, particularly in evening hours. We found that emergency exits were not clearly marked in the food court area, and staff training on security protocols was inconsistent across different stores.
